Open Learning Environment BS BLIK!
GO! | Edegem
The new building for Basisschool BLIK! in Edegem is a carefully integrated addition within the existing school site. Through the selective removal of outdated structures, space was created for a new volume that subtly connects with the existing buildings, reinforcing continuity across the campus. Its blue, continuous façade and varied openings translate the pedagogy of open learning into architecture — a dynamic and inviting environment that makes the learning process spatially tangible. The school is vertically organized, with kindergarten spaces on the ground floor and primary classrooms on the upper levels, where open learning centres and custom furniture structures define flexible, engaging settings. As a radical pioneer project for open education, BLIK! draws inspiration from the ideals of Johannes Duiker, Herman Hertzberger, and Rosan Bosch, renewing this legacy with a contemporary sensitivity to context, light, and connection.
