Open Learning Environment De Pientere Piste
GO! | Deurne
The new primary school forms a spatial link between Rivierenhof and Park Groot Schijn, nestled within a green room structure that creates a leafy play edge. The pavilion-like volume, shifted partly toward the street, is wrapped by a concrete canopy that emphasizes the building’s all-sidedness, moderates sunlight and rain, and integrates outdoor spaces, balconies, and terraces into the learning landscape. Outdoor staircases weave circulation and educational outdoor spaces together. The woven brick façade, rounded corners, and tactile detailing give the building a strong and recognizable identity. Within a compact plan, two learning groups occupy each upper floor, while the youngest children are directly connected to the playground and multipurpose hall — the communal heart of the school. Central functions such as the hall, library, lecture space, and roof garden allow the building to breathe and foster encounters beyond the classroom. In harmony with the Park Groot Schijn masterplan, the project creates an open, layered, and stimulating environment that spatially embodies contemporary education.
