Housing Development Neerland Wilrijk

The proposal for PPS Neerland in Wilrijk was developed for AG Vespa and Woonhaven Antwerpen as part of a competition procedure for the redevelopment of a strategic transition zone between the city and the green framework of Park Van Eeden and Neerlandpark. Developed by Matexi, in collaboration with HUB Architecten, Areal Architecten, and Karres+Brands, the project envisions a mixed residential district comprising 244 housing units — a balanced composition of single-family and multi-family dwellings — combined with market-rate and social housing, commercial functions, and an underground car park for 293 vehicles. The design interweaves urban density with landscape openness, establishing a clear spatial structure of blocks, squares, and green axes. The architecture balances robustness and refinement, while the landscape acts as a social and ecological backbone.
