The design of the new kindergarten revolves around creating recognisable and nurturing places from which children can gradually explore the world. Interior and exterior spaces flow seamlessly into one another, encouraging play, creativity, and social interaction. Nestled within the enclosed school site, the single-storey building with a clear central heart is transparent and accessible, fully attuned to the scale of young children. Each classroom features a covered outdoor space with direct access to the school’s central core, while the playgrounds act as breathing spaces, structuring the day and offering age-appropriate atmospheres ranging from sheltered to lively. Architecturally, the building adopts a modest stance within the neighbourhood, with open edges and views of green roofs. The generous rooftop playground offsets the building’s footprint and allows for future extensions. The result is a flexible learning environment that embraces and challenges children, using architecture as a tool for imagination, discovery, and encounter — a school anchored in its context without turning inward.
