Operational Building DP World

This project forms part of DP World’s growth and investment strategy in the Port of Antwerp, aimed at increasing container handling capacity by relocating supporting infrastructure to the second line, thereby freeing up valuable quay space for additional container positions. At its core is a new office building with one underground and four above-ground levels, strategically positioned along the Geslecht. The programme also includes a two-level parking structure, nestled within the railway bundle, and a pedestrian bridge spanning the rail infrastructure. The surrounding site is organised with a paved square facilitating circulation for staff shuttles and emergency services. The architecture transcends pure administration: the building acts as a transferium, a node where dock workers and staff converge. Within the complex context of power lines, rail tracks, and logistics axes, the design establishes a robust, sustainable volume with a layered façade that filters sunlight and optimises the indoor climate through concrete core activation. Its expressive, rhythmic façade anchors the building as a distinctive landmark in the industrial harbour landscape.
